Construction

A solid core.
Oak on the face.

The stave panel is made of glued solid-wood staves, held between cross-bands, then faced with oak veneer. More stable than a solid top, as workable, as honest.

Stable

Staves and cross-bands limit wood movement.

Rigid

The folding top keeps its flatness.

Workable

Screw hold, joints, edge — like solid wood.
